Blocking Begins Tomorrow

Just a few reminders for the process of blocking:

• Please remember to bring appropriate clothing for being on stage during rehearsal
• This means no skirts ladies
• This also means no more flip flops at rehearsals everyone
• Please wear loose fitting comfortable clothing that you can move in on stage
• Guys make sure your pants won't fall down, so wear a belt

• Make sure you have all the paperwork in so you can keep your script and receive your official membership binder
• The binder should come to practice with you everyday
• There is a section in it where you can write down notes about blocking 
• It also has a wonderful pocket in front and back where you can store the script when you are not working on learning your lines
• That same section can double as a place to write down notes from this director once we are past blocking and start running the show
• It is also a place to write down thoughts about character, costume, props, and make-up ideas

• Please help out the show by selling season tickets and presale tickets
• A copy of each form may be found in your membership binder

• For those of you who don't know what blocking actually is, it is the process of assigning each actress or actor their movements on the stage that correspond with each line of dialogue in the script, so you will be learning where you go on stage
• This can be a slow process if you do not focus and you hold tons of side conversations, so the more you pay attention the quicker this process moves along
• I would suggest that if you have homework assignments from your classes you bring that with you and work on it as the blocking process proceeds
• I would also make sure you have your pencil, script and binder to record all your movements in, so you do not forget where you are going
• It is very painful when we have to stop the run through of the shows to re-teach blocking because it was not written down the first time through

Rehearsals are Starting Monday

Alright everyone,
Family Ties and Little White Lies starts Monday, September 24th.  Cast list will be posted Monday morning and the first production meeting is after school on Monday. Everyone in the cast has to come and don't forget to bring in all of your papers and your dues. You can't take your script home until they are all in. Please pass on to all who are not subscribed yet.

Officers meeting rescheduled

The officers meeting that was scheduled for the 19th has been moved to the 20th due to auditions being rescheduled. Pass this along to those that are not following the blog.

Auditions rescheduled

Just a reminder. Due to weather auditions have been rescheduled for September the 19th from 3 to 5pm in the auditorium. Please pass this along to others that do not follow the blog. 

Auditions for "Family Ties and Little White Lies!"

And the moment we have all been waiting for is finally here, its the beginning of the fall show! As we all know, the fall show, a FBI farce, is called "Family Ties and Little White Lies," and auditioning starts tomorrow! There are two dates for auditioning, September 17th & September 18th, from 3-5pm.
Please prepare a monologue or a short scene to present. It would be ideal to have the piece memorized. Remember to bring your completed Auditioning form, your completed Membership form, and your measurement form, as well as your $10 show due, which will be used to take care of food on the days of dress rehersal, as well as director gifts at the end of the show. If you do not have any of these forms, you can find them on the Drama Club website.
*NOTE: If you noticed, both the membership form and the auditioning sheet have grade checks with it. You DO NOT need both grade checks filled out, but ONE must be filled out, signed by your teachers, accompanied with your grade in that class.
Also, congratulations goes out to our student director, Kristy Sonberg and student stage manager, Tim Clark for "Family Ties and Little White Lies."

Auditions

Okay everyone,
Don't forget about auditions for Family Ties and Little White Lies on Monday and Tuesday, September 17th and 18th from 3-5pm in the auditorium. Please have an audition piece memorized and ready. Remember sometimes it is better to volunteer at the beginning instead of waiting and becoming more nervous about your audition.

Fall Show Information

There's a lot to look forward to as the Drama season draws closer & closer. The fall show, 'Family Ties and Little White Lies' will be taking off here shortly. The MANDATORY parent meeting will be this Tuesday, September 11 from 6:30pm-8pm. If you plan on auditioning, you must attend this meeting, and have a parent attend this meeting. If you also plan to audition, please fill out your membership form with the grade check to bring to the auditions, you must become a member of the NCHS Drama Club in order to audition! Auditioning dates this year are September 17th & 18th from 3-5pm. Another reminder, ($10) dues should be turned in when you audition as well, as well as any other paperwork.The show dates for this show will be on  November 9th, 10th, 16th & 17th.

For those who want to be Stage Manager or Student Director: You must fill out a survey regarding the job. To find the survey, you can click the link under Club Links here on the blog OR go to the  Drama Club website (Hint:: simply click that handy-dandy link to open a new window!) and look for the Survey subtitle, under which the surveys are listed and linked. 

Also, why not start selling those season tickets to friends & family. Remember, this year, with the new membership policy, you must have fundraising hours. Selling tickets will get you those hours! The ticket forms can be found on the website, or you can get some from Mr. Schoonover in room 502. 

Other Information for this upcoming week: FEST board will be meeting this Tuesday from 6-8 in Room 502.  There is also a Officer's Meeting this Wednesday from 3-5. Officers, be ready to work hard. Bring anything from last week, your binders, and a pen or pencil. We still have a lot to get done so we can get this drama season started. :)

Drama Club Interest Meeting

Hey there everyone! This year, our interest meeting will be held on September 6, 2012. Please come to the meeting, even if you have already been a part of the Drama Club at NCHS. There is a lot of new and updated information everyone needs to get. The meeting will be held in the auditorium, 3-4pm. Spread the word, bring your friends! Hope to see a good turn-out! 

FEST

Its that time of the year again, time to start planning for FEST. What is FEST again? FEST stands for Festival of Eastern Shore Theater. Its an annual event held in January for all theater lovers, held by theater lovers and supported by the same people; theater supporters and lovers! This year FEST will be held on January 26th, 2013 at NCHS. However, with out help, FEST will be impossible to have. That is what the FEST president Jessica and her amazing FEST Board  does. Wanna help and be a part of FEST Board? The first FEST Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Jessica would love to see you there. The more, the merrier! Come one, come all!
