The fall show is over and everyone did a great job. Family Ties and Little White Lies was a great show with a great cast. Don't forget that we have a meeting Monday and Tuesday Nov. 19th and 20th from 3 till 5 to discuss the future of the drama club. I hope everyone can attend at put your voice in the mix.

Hurricane Sandy

Hello everyone,
I hope everyone is making out well after the storm yesterday. 
Don't Forget because of school being canceled yesterday Oct. 29th and today Oct. 30th, tomorrow there will  be rehersal starting at 3:00 pm and we will not end until 9:00pm the same goes for thursday. WE NEED EVERYONES HELP! Once we run through the show twice we will be working on sets so bring your paint clothes. There is still painting to do. Thank you and have a good afternoon.

Off Script Act 1

I just hope everyone took time today to learn their lines for act 1. I know it was a late night for those also in the Reader's Theatre production. Get lots of rest and practice those lines tomorrow whenever you can. I know all will go well tomorrow if everyone comes with a positive attitude and are willing to focus on the show.

Home coming week has brought about a few schedule changes that are important to bring to everybody's attention.

First, Friday's regularly scheduled rehearsal will be canceled due to the 4:00 pm line-up time for all band members. Since that involves 11 out of the 20 responsible for the show it makes it hard to rehearse. Plus I know the other 9 of you would probably like to go watch the parade or might be involved with your class floats.

Instead on Friday we are going to offer an Hour of Improve from 3 to 4 pm. This will be open to any drama club members, any band members, and anyone from the general school population that wants to learn about improve or theater. I would like to give everyone a place to learn a little about improve and have some fun after the pep rally! So come out and have a good time for an hour before the parade and play some games with your peers!

Another schedule change due to home coming is that we will be canceling the set building on Saturday. We would like to allow everyone to have plenty of time to plan and prepare for the dance. Plus the Reader's Theater has dress rehearsal on Monday and we would like to leave the set  for that show as untouched as possible. So enjoy the day off to prepare for the dance that night and have a safe time at the dance.

Blocking Begins Tomorrow

Just a few reminders for the process of blocking:

• Please remember to bring appropriate clothing for being on stage during rehearsal
• This means no skirts ladies
• This also means no more flip flops at rehearsals everyone
• Please wear loose fitting comfortable clothing that you can move in on stage
• Guys make sure your pants won't fall down, so wear a belt

• Make sure you have all the paperwork in so you can keep your script and receive your official membership binder
• The binder should come to practice with you everyday
• There is a section in it where you can write down notes about blocking 
• It also has a wonderful pocket in front and back where you can store the script when you are not working on learning your lines
• That same section can double as a place to write down notes from this director once we are past blocking and start running the show
• It is also a place to write down thoughts about character, costume, props, and make-up ideas

• Please help out the show by selling season tickets and presale tickets
• A copy of each form may be found in your membership binder

• For those of you who don't know what blocking actually is, it is the process of assigning each actress or actor their movements on the stage that correspond with each line of dialogue in the script, so you will be learning where you go on stage
• This can be a slow process if you do not focus and you hold tons of side conversations, so the more you pay attention the quicker this process moves along
• I would suggest that if you have homework assignments from your classes you bring that with you and work on it as the blocking process proceeds
• I would also make sure you have your pencil, script and binder to record all your movements in, so you do not forget where you are going
• It is very painful when we have to stop the run through of the shows to re-teach blocking because it was not written down the first time through

Rehearsals are Starting Monday

Alright everyone,
Family Ties and Little White Lies starts Monday, September 24th.  Cast list will be posted Monday morning and the first production meeting is after school on Monday. Everyone in the cast has to come and don't forget to bring in all of your papers and your dues. You can't take your script home until they are all in. Please pass on to all who are not subscribed yet.

Officers meeting rescheduled

The officers meeting that was scheduled for the 19th has been moved to the 20th due to auditions being rescheduled. Pass this along to those that are not following the blog.
